Day 1

Started off by looking through public asset packs that might work for the theme "Missing." I didn’t want to do anything typical like horror or emotional story stuff. I was aiming for something that could let me focus on environment interaction and simple puzzle mechanics. Eventually found a Portal-style pack: https://www.fab.com/listings/01c4e45e-93dd-4326-9811-9545b8a0bb70 . It had that clean test chamber look like Valve’s games but no actual portals. That was perfect. I wasn’t trying to copy Portal, just wanted the modular and futuristic vibe it came with. Downloaded the pack, made a new Unreal project, installed everything, tested the assets, and locked it in. The visuals were already solid so I could skip wasting time building props or materials. It gave me exactly what I needed to start thinking about puzzle layouts and overall level flow. That was the moment I decided the core of the game would be built around a simple concept. Something is missing, and the player needs to find it. Straightforward and fits the theme without overcomplicating things.
